Showrunner on What Season 1's Success Means for Future Production

Hiroyuki Sanada, the star and producer of the upcoming Hulu series "Shōgun," recently spoke about the possibility of filming Season 2 in Japan.

In an interview with Variety, Sanada said that he would "love" to film Season 2 in Japan, and that he believes it would be a "great opportunity" to showcase the country's culture and history.

"I think it would be a great opportunity to show the world the beauty of Japan and its people," Sanada said.

Sanada also said that he believes Season 1's success will help to make Season 2 possible. "The success of Season 1 has given us a lot of confidence," Sanada said. "We're very excited to see what the future holds."

"Shōgun" is a historical drama series based on the novel of the same name by James Clavell. The series tells the story of John Blackthorne, an English navigator who is shipwrecked in Japan in the 1600s.

The series stars Sanada as Toranaga, a powerful Japanese warlord. The series has been praised for its stunning visuals, its complex characters, and its accurate depiction of Japanese culture and history.

Season 1 of "Shōgun" is set to premiere on Hulu on March 24, 2023.
